The humble spud, or perhaps not. There are many grown around the paddocks in this area and I have never seen such a huge variety. I think Tassie might be as well known for its potato growing as it is for apples. Red Foo, Purple Bliss and Peruvian Gold – what wonderful names. This is one of the hidden veggies that you cannot see on one of our food, wine and farmgate tours, but quite often the local farmers’ markets sell a good variety, even the unusual ones.
